This is a beautiful campground on the Kentucky River Palisades. The new owners take pride in the campground and it shows. The facilities are very clean and the grounds are well kept. The sites are big rig friendly, very spacious, with level cement pads and a fire ring and picnic table at each site. The owners are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We will definitely stay here again.
After staying here in 2004, and being very disappointed, we returned this year after friends told us the park was under new management. The park was very much improved. The roads, landscaping and other amenities had been upgraded, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely return.
Very unfriendly staff. Park is very poorly maintained and our site smelled of raw sewage. We did not even want to see what the bathrooms/showers were like. It was noisy because it is next to a highway under construction. Its location was right for a one night stay on our way to destination, but that is all. Would never stay here again.
Poorly managed, but friendly manager. Apparently he's only there in the afternoons, doesn't take reservations, and you just pick out your site on the map and go there. Our site was short, but adequately wide. Restaurant was expensive and not very good. Okay for a one night stay.
What a beautiful, well maintained resort directly on the Gulf of Mexico! All sites are privately owned, concrete pads, landscaped, and very large with patio area with concrete tables. Owners staying in the park are all very friendly, as is the management. Town is only a very short distance away, but if you don't want to drive there is a trolley that comes into the park once an hour and will take you into town or bring you back from town for 25 cents. The beach is gorgeous and while we were there there were not very many people on it. On the downside, we stayed in a site in the front area near the highway and it was quite noisy. Also, there are only two "showers", which are actually two large bathrooms which are in the clubhouse/office, and there are only two washers and dryers. But the excellent location and well maintained resort make it well worth it. We will definitely be back!
A great park! Sites are paved and pretty level, but a bit narrow. The park is right on the ocean with many shops, restaurants, a major grocery store with pharmacy, and a fishing pier all within walking distance. There is also a great walking/jogging path along the ocean, as well as a very inexpensive public metro rail system within two miles. A very friendly staff. Grounds were extremely well maintained, and the staff could be seen walking and checking the grounds, laundromat and restrooms on numerous occasions during the day. My only complaint about the restrooms would be that the shelves to hold bathing materials were moldy. We paid $57.60 per night with our Good Sam discount. This is more than we usually pay to stay at a park, but we really enjoyed our stay and saved quite a bit on gasoline since we could walk most everywhere. We will definitely be back.
Very well maintained park with very nice facilities and friendly staff. The sites are level concrete and adequate in size, though not large. There are numerous sections and the park is huge. We had to learn our way around. It is rather sterile and we felt like we were in a subdivision rather than a park. It was very convenient as everything you might need or want to do was very close by. All in all a nice place to stay.
Very poorly managed and maintained. A really nice park but very run down. The manager lives in a house in the back of the park and cannot see the office from her home. When we arrived we waited with three others for her to "return at 3:00", even though it was 3:30. She finally came over from the house in back around 4:00. She was not very friendly and acted as if we were bothering her. We never found her in the office and had to go to the house in back to try to find her if we needed anything. The sites are large and nice, but ours was full of dog feces and flies. The laundry facilities were not working and we were told by others in the park they hadn't been for a very long time. We had to drive 15 miles to a laundromat. Its a shame because the park has a lot of potential and is great for families.
We were pleasantly surprised. The park is neat and clean with gravel sites. The grounds are well maintained and they are sprucing them up. There is a privacy fence which blocks the view of a poorly maintained park next door. Before the privacy fence was installed another reviewer incorrectly referred to that park as the "dark side" of this park and they are not actually the same park. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We paid the Passport America rate.
The sites are so small that we saw two campers leave because they couldn't get their rigs in. Campground roads not well maintained. Dumpsters not located conveniently. No tv, radio or internet access. Very crowded and too commercial for us.
